TBV Lemgo Lippe have returned from the capital with two points for the second time, following their 8th round Opel Handball-Bundesliga clash with Füchse Berlin: the final score was 36:37, decided only in the closing minutes. Niels Gerardus Versteijnen struck 29 seconds from time to seal the away win, with Nils Lichtlein able only to pull one back shortly afterwards.

Nissen strikes in the dying seconds: Erlangen remain unbeaten at home

HC Erlangen secured a 33:32 victory over MT Melsungen at the PSD Bank Nürnberg ARENA and remain undefeated at home this season. Marek Nissen decided a contest that remained open for the full 60 minutes with his sixth goal into the visitors' empty net, seconds before the final buzzer.

Kiel's defence sets the tone: THW remain unbeaten at home

THW Kiel defeated Handball Club Hamburg 26:19 and remain unbeaten at home. This long-contested match was decided by the defence: Gonzalo Perez de Vargas made ten saves, in front of a defensive unit that blocked eleven of the visitors' shots.

Preview Matchday 8: North Derby in Kiel, Füchse hosts Lemgo
While league leaders SC Magdeburg sit out this round, Flensburg, the only unbeaten team in the Opel HBL, have climbed back to the top of the table. Record champions THW Kiel will look to follow suit on Sunday when they host Hamburg in a North Derby, while the Füchse welcome Lemgo. In the third match of the day, Erlangen and Melsungen face off.
